June 3, 2010: Thursday

Ah, there it is again - the rain falling from the heavenly skies, but with sun still burning bright, nearing the horizon. I turn off my music to listen to it beat on the concrete balcony by my window. It has been SO hot today, I've come back totally drenched in sweat and exhausted from my short trips out. This rain is much needed.

I was supposed to see the Pink Mosque and other buildings in Putrajaya, otherwise known as Cyberjaya, today, but I'm having such a nicely relaxed and productive day, I just come back to my hostel, talk to friends, take a nap, and I'm up writing again. Nothing too eventful today, just savoring KL in my last few days here. I'm going to miss it terribly. I was telling a friend today that I don't miss home (USA) as much as I miss having a home base, as in a place to hang my clothes, not live out of a suitcase, a place to stay that isn't a hotel or a hostel with cleaning service, maybe a car so I have a bit more freedom to move about and get things done, maybe not, that sinkhole in Guatemala is freakin' apocalyptic . . . I'm still in disbelief about it.

I worked on an interview with Yes Magazine today, and am trying to write up a press release for myself, summarizing the experience of the Marketplace at the Forum. There's been so much interest globally in bringing the event to other countries. There's a lot of momentum right now, and it's only too perfect that it would start here in Malaysia, in KL specifically - a small, lively city consisting mostly of a young, educated population. I think it's quite aligned with why this city, and country has been so progressive with it's refinement and development in all sorts of sectors.

On a related note, check out Fazil's interview in The Strait Times about the Marketplace.
