Last October 2009, I received an email that I had been invited to speak at a Young Leader's Forum, hosted by the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia, in May 2010, based on my art and architecture achievements. Almost positive that it was some sort of spam email, I immediately forwarded it to my friend who had been working in the political realm in KL for a couple years now, to make sure it was "legit." He gave it a thumbs up, and I accepted the offer to attend in email. A few weeks later, I received the official letter in the mail. Seven months of emailing, coordinating, discussing, and planning later, I find myself in Kuala Lumpur, sitting on a porch of a guest house called The Green Hut in Bukit Bintang, writing this.
I'll be traveling for a month, maybe more, who knows? Anything is possible! The pages that lay ahead are my scramblings written during travels throughout parts of SouthEast Asia, stories about people I've been blessed to meet on these travels, and some personal insights and reflections. Check back every now and then ~ you may find a word or two that touches you, or a picture or sketch that makes you smile . . . or cringe! ;)
The WIEF Conference is going to be held on May 18-19, 2010 in the KL Convention Centre. If you're in the area, PLEASE come! You'll have a great time, I'm sure of it. Read more about it here.

** Disclaimers & Notes **
1) I drift in my thoughts . . . like ... a lot . . .
2) InshaAllah means "God Willing." SubhanAllah means "Praise God." Alhamdulillah means "Thank God!" MashaAllah means "What Allah wills." I use these Arabic terms a lot in my every day talk. Allah refers to God in Arabic.
3) I don't have a scanner or reliable internet so updates may not always be timely, and may be pixellated, like this.
4) Journal entries reflect my own opinions; WIEF should not be associated with them. I love WIEF btw I could only really say great things about them and the people that work there!
5) I'm often smiling with sleepy eyes as I write these entries so have mercy and give me the benefit of your thoughts please :) I feel like I'm getting sillier/light-headed by the day because of this heavy heat. What an existence: heavy heat!
6) Would love your comments or thoughts in the comment boxes, or to my personal email :) Thank you.
